Notes for John Jacob Stohr Starr


John Jacob arrived on the ship, “Queen Elizabeth” at the port of Philadelphia on 16 September 1738. He gave his age on the passenger list as 38. The ship hadcarried Palatinates from the Port of Rotterdam by way of Deal, England. John Jacob Starr went to North Carolina about 1748, the same time as Henry Weitzel. Healways went by the name of “Jacob.” He was mentioned in the German Genealogiesprepared by the reverends Offman and Killey as the father of the children named here. He and his wife, Anna Margaret, were sponsors for the christening of agrandson, John Jacob Starr, 12 August 1779, in the Brick Reformed Church, Guilford County, North Carolina.
